The Sealark Bed & Breakfast Inn offers rooms and
apartment accommodations in the heart of Avalon, NJ.
Within walking distance of the great Avalon
restaurants and one short block to the beach, the accommodations tend toward light and airy, rather
than old, heavy Victorian.
The rooms are all decorated with furniture that has been
in the innkeepers' families. The hardwood floors are covered with beautiful Oriental
carpets. While antiques abound, "comfort" is the feeling
that one experiences during a visit to The Sealark.
Breakfast is a special treat at the Sealark. During the
summer there are three seatings when guests sign up for their breakfast
time, either 8:15, 9:00 or 9:45. The buffet includes homemade cake, an
entrée of the innkeepers’ choice (varied daily), cereals and multiple
varieties of fresh fruit. Coffee, a choice of teas and orange juice are
available. If you require a special diet please make the innkeepers’
aware of it at the time the reservation is made and every attempt will
be made to accommodate the request.
In recent years, Avalon, NJ has been described as "everything
the rest of the shore isn't." It has a beautiful, deep beaches - rated
the best and most picturesque in South Jersey. It is considered "cooler
by a mile" because it projects seaward a mile farther than its
neighboring islands. The magazine, 'The Washintonian', has rated Avalon
beaches in the top 4 on the East Coast
The Sealark Bed and Breakfast, Avalon’s only Bed and Breakfast,
is a beautifully restored Victorian home that was built in 1901.
One of the
original great houses on First Avenue in the old Peermont development,
we believe The Sealark was first utilized as a guest house in the
1940’s. It was truly an old fashioned guesthouse in that the families
who lived here rented out some of the rooms to those with limited funds
who wanted a weekend at the “shore.”
There have been many improvements made to the The Sealark such as air
conditioning and private bathrooms. The Sealark is within walking
distance of the great Avalon restaurants and one short block to the
beach.
